I took mine apart to polish it along with my plenum and runners, and broke off one of the bolts holding the IAC housing to the bottom of the throttle body. Now I have an excuse to buy a fully polished holley. I've heard some people complaining about the BBK. How about the holley? Good unit? It sure looks nice. :smash:
Re: Anybody using a Holley Throttle Body? (Jim85IROC)
A little over a year ago , I heard about some problems with the Holley TB's. I don't know if they corrected them, but I expect more considering the price.
Re: Anybody using a Holley Throttle Body? (Springer's 95)
My car is far from stock, but not likely to see an improvement from the 52. I broke mine and would like a nice polished unit to match the rest of my polished equipment. I'm just more concerned about problems than anything else.
Re: Anybody using a Holley Throttle Body? (Jim85IROC)
The Holley TB is a beautiful piece for sure, but it won't help. My car with the cam and headers actually dyno'd a 4 hp loss with the Holley 52mm over the stock 48mm. Take that with a grain of salt being that it was a different dyno on a different day. With that in mind I honestly don't think I lost anything, but I certainly didn't gain anything.
Like I said, it's a very good looking piece, and I'm glad I have it. I did however get it new for half price :) I don't think I would pay full price for it.
Re: Anybody using a Holley Throttle Body? (Nathan Plemons)
Thanks for the info. I don't expect any gains from it. I'm buying it as an appearance piece because my stock one looks like hell, especially with my polished stuff right next to it. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to have negative impacts from it.
Re: Anybody using a Holley Throttle Body? (tntcorvette)
i have the 58 mm unit on my '85 and its perfect. Only problem was the tps tab rubbed the t.b. so I had to trim the tab down with a dremel.
I have the Holley 58mm and had the same issue with the T.P.S. tab hanging up on the T.B.; as TNT said, just trim the tab and you are good to go. My other problem was with the pivot on throttle linkage being too large in diameter so the throttle cable would bind; I solved that problem by grinding down the pivot until the cable end moved freely throughout the full range of motion. Other than those issues, I think my Holley is far superior to the Edelbrock/BBK it replaced.
