Default VATS Delete From Tune?

Just put my pcmforless chip in my '88 last night. I can still hear the vats module behind the radio clicking(horns are unplugged). It started clicking after I parked and opened the door. Is it supposed to be completely disabled since it was one of the options I picked from my tune?

VATS delete on the tune only removes the requirement for the fuel enable signal from the module to be seen by the ECM
You have to manually bypass the starter enable relay

And Sean, I think you may be confusing VATS with UTDS. I suspect the clicking you are hearing from behind the radio is the Horn Relay, (you said the horns were disconnected) which trips when you open the door with the Theft Deterrent System armed. Just as Rod mentioned about the Start Enable Relay having no connection to the ECM (its enable comes from the VATS Module), the Horn Relay is connected to the Horn Switch (on Steering Wheel) and the UTDS module. No connection to the ECM. Your tune will do nothing for this.

The VATS module does two things:

1 - Turn on starter enable relay so you can crank your engine. It is located behind the tell-tale display with all the status lights on it.

2 - Send 30Hz signal to the ECM to tell it that it is OK to enable the injectors -- this is the part they bypass in the ECM code. The code enables the injectors if it sees a signal between 20 and 40Hz.

Some people bypass the starter enable relay, which you need to do if you eliminate the VATS module. You do that by connecting the green wire with the white stripe to the yellow wire.

#1 is one of the major troubleshooting tools for VATS problems. If you can crank the engine then VATS is probably working (not 100% sure, because it still needs to do #2, but that part very rarely fails).
