I want to put the the 56 FT offset and the 50 rear offset
on my hotrod (1984 front and 1986 rear susp). to keep my wheels in as far as possible.
will it work or what hits
I have no problem with body or frame hitting
dont want to use spacers.
I believe the offset for the 88 and newer vettes all used the same offsets (except ZR1 & GS). With that being said, if you use 17X8.5" fronts and 18X9.5" rears, you shouldnt hit/rub anything. If you go with the 17X9.5" fronts, you might rub the inside of the inner wheel well on a full turn. I have 17X9.5" wheels from a 90 vette and do not use any spacers/adapters. Keep in mind that you will lose 1.5-2" of wheel base because of the difference in offsets. Eventhough it does work, Id would still recommend getting wheels with the correct offset just so you dont have to sacrifice on the wheel base.
when you said wheelbase did you mean the witdth left to right
my wheelbase (center of hubs front to rear) is 102"
my car is about 59" wide.
wheel flangs are about 61" wide
when I put the vette rearend in
I"m thinking about moving it forward a little 1"-2"
to get more weight on the rear
I dont know
By wheel base (wrong terms?), I was referring to the distance from the outside of the tire where the tire contacts the road to the other side. By using the wrong offset, you are pushing the wheels closer together thus causing the outside edge to outside edge to be decreased.
