Time to change all the fluids in track only 93. Going w/ Motul 600 brake fluid and need recommendations for the Dana 44 rear & the 6 spd trans. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Talk to subdriver. I would do the Amsoil thing. That's what I'm running in my car.

I use:

Castrol Syntec DOT4 brake fluid
Castrol Syntec Power Steering Fluid
Castrol TWS 10W60 Oil for the ZF6 (available at any BMW dealer in Parts Department). I've also used the Amsoil oil in the ZF, but went to the Castrol because ZF recommends it and it smoothed out the shifts when I went to it.
Amsoil 75w-140 SVO in the D44
Amsoil Slip Lock Differential Additive

I use only Redline heavy shockproof gear oil in the Dana 44 and I do not add additional additives.

My normal 60 foots are 1.50 and below.

Just my .02.

Different kind of track, 1/2 hr driving sessions X 6 a days. Everything gets very hot especially mid-summer. Thanks all for the recommendations.

What I do with mine...

Not had any issues at all since the car was new in 1991.

The Redline Shockproof line is still very very good stuff for that application too. I run the Heavyweight Shock Proof Gear Oil in my Dana 44 and the lightweight shock proof gear oil (Smurf Blue) in my ZF6. No complaints. It is a fully synthetic fluid and will be great for high demand applications like you describe.

I auto-x and run the 1/4 mile. No issues.

Not to hijack, but I'll vouch for 85vet's 60 foot time. I watched you launch last weekend. That car sticks and goes all on a IRS and runs 10's thru mufflers. I like it.

I'll have to be happy with my 13.38@104.87 for now.

Motul is a good brake fluid to use. Are you running pure distilled water and a bottle of Water Wetter for coolant? Antifreeze is not a good thing to drop on the track surface

The Castrol TWS 10W60 should be fine for the ZF.

I use Red Line synthetic PS fluid in my 87.

Here is a list of the things I use in my track car. All AMSOIL Products.

Rear Gear Oil:
Severe Gear® Synthetic Extreme Pressure (EP) Gear Lube 75W-90 (SVG)
http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?G...=95?zo=1934716
No additive required. I use just this in the differential.

Transmission:
Synthetic Manual Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (MTF)
http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?G...212?zo=1934716

Brake Fluid:
Series 600 DOT 4 Racing Brake Fluid (BF4)
http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?GroupID=43?zo=1934716

Power Steering Fluid:
Synthetic Universal Power Steering Fluid (PSF)
http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?G...822?zo=1934716

Coolant Boost:
AMSOIL Dominator® Coolant Boost
http://www.amsoil.com/catalog.aspx?G...970?zo=1934716

All of these products are designed to handle high track temperatures and conditions, and can still be used in a street driven vehicle.

I concur with the fluids Kubs has listed above for your 93 (though in my 02 Z06 I use a different tranny fluid).

You might also consider one of these for engine oil for track only applications:
AMSOIL Dominator Synthetic 10w30 Racing Motor Oil (Product Code RD30QT)
(zinc – 1575 ppm, phosphorus 1474 ppm)
AMSOIL Z-ROD 10w30 Synthetic Motor Oil (Product Code ZRTQT)
(zinc – 1440 ppm, phosphorus 1320 ppm)

I use the Dominator 10w30 in mine, which with my aftermarket oil cooler runs at about 245-255F, right at the top of the band for which I feel comfortable running a 30 grade oil. The Z-ROD is a good choice for a dual-use street/track car as it has enough detergent/dispersants for 3-5k oil change intervals, whereas I change my oil at about 500 mile intervals. Note that neither meets GM's recommendation for the Corvette which requires current API spec oils. But, current API spec oils are very limited in how much anti-wear additive they can have (phosphorus 800 ppm) thus I do not think that they are a good choice for the track.

More than happy to get any of the above for you at wholesale pricing, about 25% below retail, via the AMSOIL Preferred Customer Program. Drop me a PM if interested.
