Default Re: A/C Question (CAJUN C4)

Probably. Pressure should be about 50 on both sides with the a/c off. My guess would be that the Accumulator failed sending crap throughout the system where it lodged in the orifice tube. The other possibility is a seized Compressor. You need to take the system apart and flush the Lines, Evaporator and Condensor with brake parts cleaner and compressed air. If the Compressor isn't seized, drain the oil, refill it with clean oil, turn the shaft 10 times in one direction and then 10 times in the other. Drain the oil again and repeat to flush it. Get a new Accumulator and O-tube. Add the oil charge (on most Vettes it's 8 ozs. - check your Shop Manual for specs). Put 3 ozs. in the Compressor, 3 ozs. in the Accumulator, 2 ozs. in the Evaporator and 1 oz. in the Condensor. Pull a vacuum and recharge.
