I have been planning to replace my injectors with new ones and John at FIC had the brand new OEM Bosch ones for about $100 more than the rebuilt ones. So...I went for it. My car runs quite well. It stumbles at idle very slightly. It fires immediately upon first start. But it needs to crank over for maybe 4-5 seconds to start when warm. I am assuming some of the old injectors are leaking. I like to clean things up around the engine and I am contemplating removing the 9th injector while I have it all apart, as maybe it's one of the culprits. But I am putting in brand new 22lb Bosch injectors that should optimize the injection.
Three questions:
1-Can I remove the 9th injector with the plenum in place or does it have to come out when it's all apart? I know you can buy machined block-off plugs to do this.
2-If I remove the 9th injector, will the car take much longer to start when cold? It's an 86. I know later years had no 9th injector and the ecu ran the injectors richer to cover this.
3-Other than checking the resistance of the injectors, is there any other way to figure which ones are the best and make sure the 9th injector is one of the best currently on the engine?

I bought new Bosch III 22's from F.I.C. and my car runs beautiful. I kept the 9th injector, I didn't see any reason to remove it. Try checking the timing, I find 8 degrees works well, any higher seems to make the car hard to start when it's hot.
