I have read on here and other forums that if you have the 39T or less VSS and need the 40t plus vss, you can rotate the 39T vss and it will work like the 40t + vss. can anyone confirm this? thank you
note: i have the 17T drive gear, the 44T driven gear but i need the 40T+ VSS and i only can get a hold of the 39T- VSS
Now - I believe what I'd do is use a 15 tooth drive with a 39 tooth driven and you'll be pretty much where you need to be. In your earlier posts I assumed you wanted to use 17 because it was already installed, your more recent posts seem to indicate you've bought new drive/driven and are ready now to do an install!
the shaft for the driven gear is not directly in the center of the vss, it is offset slightly. thus when rotated 180 degrees, it will move the center axis of the driven gear farther away from the drive gear.
this will allow you to use the larger driven gears with the same vss.
the bracket that holds the vss won't fit as well, but it will work.
Yes - you've heard of it but "hearing of it" doesn't make it a "proper or even possible" fix! I saw this mentioned and recommended to someone on another forum and his response was the "genius" who dreamed this up was actually quite an "idiot" ! I'm not sure of the original source but if it's from the source that I've been told in the past that it's from yes he's got issues!!
