Ok i had this little problem with the car not going anywhere at wot. So i tried a little experiment. Dropped the car in drive not overdrive this time and it took off alot better. No hesitation or error code flash. Since it should be the same in drive or overdrive is the trans slipping?

 

Don't know if this helps but ever since my first Camaro Z28 with the 5.7 I have always been told to use Drive on the street and overdrive on the highway. I've done this in two camaros and I drive my auto Vette the same way never had a tranny problem. But I do think it runs harder off the line in Drive vs Overdrive maybe its in my head? I rarely go wot in Overdrive unless I'm already at a high mph and I never wot from a stand still in Overdrive I've been told that will cause it to fail early.

 

If I am tooling around town I will put the 84 in drive. The 700R4 has a tendancy in my car to want to go into overdrive when I think it shouldn't. I only go to O.D. when I am out on the road. I don't think my car pulls any harder in drive than overdrive. The shift points are the same as well.

 

The overrun clutch is applied in 1,2 and D not OD, this makes the tranny more durable, and probably raises the line pressure..i dont remember
