Default Poluyurethane Bushings

After all of my issues with poly bushings I decided to measure different bushings with my durometer. The results vary depending on which company made the bushing. The yellow one is what Energy Suspension created for me after I destroyed the red one. Just for a comparison I checked my Michelin street tires. They measured 75 on this scale.

That's a huge difference in hardness. Keep in mind that both the yellow and red ones are both from Energy Suspension. They can make the bushings in different hardness. Vette Brakes only has the one size fits all.

I can't decide which is more cool here: 1. You can order poly in varying hardness or 2. You have your own durometer.

Just to clarify, is the black one from Vette Brakes?

Interesting and good info to know. FYI, I have your auto-x performance handbook, great read.

Someday the 93 might have the poly bushings when I decide to go to BSP.

Richard, do you know where Delrin falls on this spectrum?

No. I don't have a reading for Delrin. I'm hoping that someone here can check it out. I know some of the vendors can do it. We'll see if they step up to the plate here.

I know they're not suspension bushings, but do you think they make those little rubber bushings inside the driver / passenger door hinges out of polyurethane? Mine have gotten old and the doors flap shut on me whenever I'm trying to get out.

I haven't got a clue on that one. Have you checked with Corvette Central?

I saw your post later in AutoX/RR that would be great to know what their delrin tests out at.

I did find this:
Teflon AF
Hardness (Rockwell) - M85, R115
Hardness (Shore D) - 83
Hardness (Shore A) - OOR I would assume

Looks like the yellow polyurethane would be about a 50 vs delrin at 85 on the D scale.
