Default removing window tint

Is there an way to remove the after market tinting on a 96 rear window with defroster? I remove the both door tinting now for the rear window. the tinting has bubbled, smearing.

remove it as a sheet... then wash with soapy water and 0000 wire wool. that should remove the glue residue.

What he said......maybe also spray on some aerosol type window cleaner and let it soak in real good before you start going at it.

Search the archives I know I saw some good information on this subject. Try lacquer thinner ... but protect your hands.

I had very good luck using a hand held steamer ... then used something called 'goof off' to get the glue off. came off pretty easy. I believe there is good information at http://www.tintdude.com

Hmm removing rear window tint. Lets see. Try this if you live in a sunny area or have good heat for a day. Take a garbage bag, (black large one and cut it to make a large sheet. lay it on the back window and cut out the shape of the window. Get some amonia about 50% with water and spray the tint down, place the garbage bag on the tint and flatten with your hand against the window. Dont squeege the flud out this is what will loosen the film and glue. put the vehicle out in the sun. reapply the amonia solution 3 to four times every 15 to 20 minuts. The film and glue will just pull right off, if some glue is left just use the amonia and 000 steel wool.
This is the easyiest way althoe it sound complicated. I have tinted cars for 20 years. Hope it helps
