Default Will LT1 Mods fit the L98?

Greetings. Going to all these aftermarket performance sites, I see sections for both LT1 and LS1 performance. However, I've seen none for the L98. Would modifications, such as aftermarket heads, camshaft, pistons, supercharger, stroker kit, etc., designed for the LT1, fit the L98? Or is there a seperate aftermarket?

Thanks guys. :)

DO NOT buy LT1 heads and attempt to put them on your car. The LT1 has reverse flow heads different ignition...the superchargers are different too I am not sure if it is because of higher compression or different runners or what. Anyway your heads are the standard flow that can fit on any regular Chevy small block 350. Some people go far enough to say that the L98 in the '91 Corvette is the last true Chevy small block in a 'vette because they made significant changes from the L98 to the LT1. Just do not make a post about which engine is better...we don't need to open that can of worms again! :yesnod:

the L98 is a standard small block chevy, any SBC parts will fit it

as for intakes, there are 2- Miniram (TPIS) and Superram (Lingenfelter) or you could slap a SC or turbos on the TPI system itself

The LT1 makes more high end power the L98 makes more low and mid range. Am I the only one that seems to think there have been a lot of L98 to LT1 comparisons/debates.

I agree, there have been quite a few comparisons. My comparison is that Lingengelter builds them both as stroker engines (383) and they put out basically the same horsepower for the same money, so it appears they are relatively equal. BTW, small block chevy's have put out 375 HP (327 cu. in.) The 69 Camaro had a 350 horse/350 before the 335 HP LT1 was even on the drawing board.

Heads do not swap. The rotating assembly for the most part swaps. Cams in early LT1s swap but the late LT1s have dowel pin that is longer. The LT1's advantages are reverse flow cooling that lowers temps in the chamber, and a better intake for a wider flat torque curve. However a miniram will give a close power curve to match a LT1 with some other mods. Also with an L98 you can go for big power with a 400 block. Yes we have heard a few LT1 vs. L98 debates recently

i dont see any reason for debate, all he really asked about was the aftermarket. Yes the these engines are very different, but the L98 is the old style SBC used since the 60's with a TPI system on top of it; while LT1 is the second generation SB and totally different. The Big tuners like TPIS and LPE make headers and stuff that was specifically made for the SBC L98, but basically theyll fit on any SBC as will any set of heads you find in a summit catalog or Scoggin Dickey catalog as long as they are advertised for SBC and not specifically for LT or LS series.

Thanks guys.

For the record, I'm not just a troll trying to stir up another one of those debates. The question was whether or not the LT1 mods would fit the L98, not which is better or which I should get. Just thought I'd clear that up. :)

But what about the horspower rating standards, S.A.E. vs. NET then and now. Aren't we essentially talking apples and oranges when the dyno tests are rolled out?

Lets not do this debate thing here. Start another thread if you want to. Now, back to our originally scheduled programming:
Some stuff will fit the L-98. I for instance have a set of LT1 SLP stainless steal headers. The only difference was the provisions for the air tubes/egr stuff. You can get the LT4 hotcam kit for $475 including springs, locks. retainers, roller tip rockers, and camshaft. You only need to press the dowell pin in further on it to make it work in an L-98.
