Default negative help

The negative battery cable on my 1993 was replaced but without a small wire that was attached along with it before. Where does this small wire go and what does it do ? Is it some sort of ground ? The car will hardly run since the cable was replaced.

If its like my 85 the extra neg wire goes to the frame at the battery. You just about have to take the battery out to see where it goes. There will probly be a eyelet there with out a wire or one that has a wire hacked off. Its a 10 or 12 gauge wire dunno what exactly connects there but there are a couple of other wires and it does ground the frame so it could be anything.

The negative battery terminal has two wires.
One ground wire bolts to the chassis/frame under the battery.

The other ground wire bolts to the engine block above
the oil filter near the engine oil temperature sensor (G106).

Or possible it could also bolt to the engine to bell housing stud on
the driverside that is G107). Really doesn't make any difference.
It's the ground path for anything bolted to the engine.

From your description of the problem this is probably
the wire that's missing.

If you don't have the second ground wire, for testing purpose
use a battery jumper cable. Connect one end to the engine
such as the AC compressor bracket and the other end to
the negative battery terminal. See if the engine runs properly.
