Everything else is pulled out of the front. Sending the rad to get cleaned and have the fins straightened and my friend at the shop said he would also work on the condenser as well. Problem is, I'm nervous about breaking the connections and opening up the a/c system to the environment. I hear rumors that doing that is bad.
A note that it sat for a while a few years ago and the system leaked down, so there is probably a leak somewhere. We did a home recharge, but it has since sat again. Getting it back up and running for good this time and doing a full opti, water pump, tune up, etc and figured we could get the rad cleaned, clean the crap out of the front and use the extra space to maneuver around the front of the engine compartment.
Would it be wise to undo the fitting and take it in?
What say ye?
It's a 1994 auto with a 134a system BTW. Manual A/C
It was the R-12 that was the "nasty" stuff and the refrigerant has probably all leaked out anyway. Take it apart and have the condenser leak checked while it's out. I managed to crack a weld on mine when I was cleaning the trash out of the space between the condenser and radiator.
