90 climate control
The unit does light up but is blank and no button respond or light up.
I pulled the unit today and have it sitting on my desk.
Any advice?
Thanks Sam

If you have some spray CRC 05101 QD Electronic Cleaner on the shelf you may want to try that first and save a few bucks.
Im not sure where to look next.
It was working fine and then just quit.
Whatever the cc connects to maybe isnt getting power?
Any Ideas?
Thank you

located in the main fuse panel passenger end/side of the
dash.
Should be 12 volts on the connector Pin 1.
Brown wire that plugs into the back of the Control
Head. 12 volts should be on the Brown wire when
the igntion switch is On.
If you see a ----- in the display that indicates
a problem communicating with the HVAC Programmer
which is bolted high up on the firewall to the right of the gas
pedal.
The HVAC Programmer gets 12 volts from the CTSY 15 amp
fuse and also the AC 25 amp fuse.
Hooked
I checked brown wire and have power as well at the 15 and 25 amp fuse
I have no -----at the cc unit
I found the hvac unit under the dash (not sure what to do with it)
The vette had been sitting all winter ,when I started the car the fan was blowing
I played with the buttons and the fan quit and I couldnt restart it.
The buttons wouldnt lighting up when I pushed them.
Is there any relays I could check?
Sam
2nd picture is the pin out of the wires at the
back connector.
I'm not 100% sure of the wire colors at the connector,
but the pin numbers are correct.
Pin 1 Brown wire is 12 volts.
Pin 2 Black wire is Ground.
Pin 3 Red/White wire 8 volt reference from Programmer.
Pin 4 Purple wire Serial data line to Programmer.
Pin 5 Purple wire redundant Serial data line to Programmer.
Pin 6 Don't know
Pin 7 Gray/Black wire LCD lighting feed from Incandescent power driver.
Pin 8 Purple/Yellow wire Control Button LED lighting feed from Incandescent
power driver.
Pin 9 Gray wire. Back lighting.
Pin 10 Black wire is Ground.
You can verify the Incandescent Power driver is working,
by turning on the Headlights. Then turn on the fog lamps.
Does the Fog lamp LED indicator light?
If it does either the Control Head or Programmer is bad.
The GM tech would use a Tech 1 to simulate the
Control Head to isolate the problem.
If it doesn't light the Incandescent Power driver is bad.
It's a transistor mounted on a heat sink mounted on
the driver side of the steering column.

(red n white wire) on the harness connecting to climate ctl. head unit.
I then pulled the programmer and discovered pin 4 was broken, preventing power to pin 3 of the head unit.
I bypass the pin by soldering a wire in its place
Works great now.
FYI pulling the vaccum tree off the programmer is a pain ,there is a clip
on the bolt
Once pryed off the vaccum tree can be pryed off as well
Sam

How long have you owned the car?
Strange that a pin would be broken.

Any signs the Programmer was ever messed with?
How's your head feeling.

Your patience and determination payed off
When I started up the Vette this season..at first I heard the fan,,then It died .
Very wet climate here and some freezing ,my guess is corrision.
When I pulled the harness off the programmer,I could see a blockage in the female
end of the plug.
I had to remove the programmer out to notice a pin was missing..
Luckily I had a friend with great skills to help trouble shoot..or
I would have most likely ordered a new one
Diagram helped alot
