What type of faster is used to attach the shifter cable to the 700R4? The fastner is missing on my car and needs replacing, and I can't find any reference to determine what I need to acquire as a replacement. I'm getting tired of having to reach under the car to reattach the cable every time my shifter pops loose!
Its the point where the actual shifter cable from the cockpit attaches to the shifting linkage on the driver side of the transmission under the car. I can reach under the car and actually shift the transmission by hand when the shifter cable is detached. So far I've just been reaching under and popping the end of the cable back onto the shift linkage whenever it pops off. I haven't had the car on a lift to see specifically what type of fastener ties the shifter cable to the shift linkage on the trans, but it feels like probably a simple cotter pin. I'd like to use the proper fastner though if possible. None of the diagrams I've seen identify exactly what it is.
Previous owner put in an awful B&M shifter on my 85. I've gota new new Factory Shifter and cables, but have the same problem. What Bolt/Nut/Clip Combo did you end up going with to replace the missing connector clip?
