Seems like there are a lot of threads on here but no definitive answers. I am looking to install a Compustar CM 6200 remote start/keyless entry on a 1987 Corvette... Here is the catch: I would like to retain the function of the VATS SYSTEM.
In addition I would like to know what you guys are using for a bypass for the key chip as on cheaper cars I just used a resistor; on this one I would prefer to use an actual bypass.

I had a Viper alarm put in my car with key-less entry but would never install a remote start. While I was having my alarm installed, 3 people came in with the problem of thier remote start not working and not being able to start thier car, screw that, I can turn the key and it's not like I need my Vette to go to work on a frigid morning. I hear the horror stories all the time of the remote start crapping out and leaving people stranded, especially with the heat of our cars, I'd stay away from that.

I have the compustar on my daily driver Toyota and it crapped out twice, the second time I didn't even bother fixing it and it's broken right now. HUH.....Compustar is JUNK
I tired of even answering anybody, I'm done......Do what you want and remember me when it stops working
Sorry I even asked this question. I have compustar on all my other vehicles, never an issue on any of them. I have installed about four myself; that is what I am familiar with, and that's why I keep using them. If you have a better recommendation post it, I would love to hear it. What I am not familiar is the PKE system on this vehicle. That is my question if you look back to the first post.
