Part number DataBase?
Do we have anything like that? If not, we should add it. :yesnod:
I agree though, some kind of database for parts and numbers would be great.
One question though, would this database be limited to GM replacement parts only or would it include after market stuff too? It could get confusing if it offered both, considering the wide spectrum of after market parts and manufactures.

Anyway, the individual gif's are all available at -http://jobyteknik.homeip.net/corvette/carfiche/
My thought is to convert the gifs to pdfs and then use acrocat to build a database, but no time to explore this yet...
I'd love to go thru my files and receipts for part numbers to help get this done.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I was trying to figure out how to write it, and the only way I could figure out doing it was to only do one year. But I'm not good with programming at all.(I got an A on Pascal in high school ;) )
:)
For example, the oil filters in the other thread...
Which year cars use the PF35 filter? (85-91)
What about the LT5 in 1990?
How do you want to pull up the information, by year, by type (L98, LT1, LT5)?
Each brand and model of oil filter may be used on many years and types of motors. Each year and type of motor may use many brands and models of oil filters. You don't want all of the required information duplicated or it will take a huge amount of space and be 'dog slow' to find anything.
Its not real hard to design, it just needs to be thought out well before starting.
One example is the return fuel filter. If you did a search for Fuel Filter, and L98, it would come up with the supply line filter, then the return filter with a note saying that it only fits certain cars 1986-1987.
It would definitely be best to go at it with some sort of search function. The other site is just a list of part numbers, and it can be tire-some to find the part you're looking for. I had started a short list that was going to be like that, but if you can write an actual program that'd be really cool. With so many helpful members, we'll have an extensive list in no time.
