Your motor has a problem which may or may not be fixable. I think the cable inside is the only thing you may find a part for and this may be your problem. It is what holds the mast up and brings it back down. The motor operates similarly to the headlights meaning the motor senses the torque increase when it is up or down and turns off. Cooler temps in the morning may affect operation I dunno.
The FSM has a write up in it about servicing these units. You may want to try and find one as it will prevent a lot of aggravation. A new antennae motor will do the same.
You have to go from underneath and work around the muffler. Some people take the rear Y pipe and mufflers off to get to it (I think the FSM says to do that). I didn't, but I've got long skinny arms.
You need to get the antenna assembly out and take it apart to see what's going on inside. Depending on your problem you might have to replace the whole assembly ($$$) or just the nylon cable (really cheap and readily available). Usually the nylon cable breaks.
I always run the antenna up and down while it's out of the car to make sure it works before I put it back in...

I prefer to take the left back wheel and wheel well cover (?) off to get easy access to the antenna. Then there are 2 or 3 bolts to remove along with the grounding strap removed from the frame and the antenna drops down for work.
after removing back wheel etc, still can`t get to it there was a nut all the way up that had to be loosened, so to heck with it, i turned on radio, cut the wires and secured them out of the way. if i sell it the next owner will have to deal with it. the antenna being up don`t bother me at all and sure ain`t gonna slow the car down
