I ordered one of these cams which showed up today, so far im very pleased with it. The spring requirements section of the cam card is blank. Im considering the edelbrock performer sure seat springs due to the price and because the cam i ordered is a near clone of the edelbrock performer cam, and these springs are designed for it.
I'll also be adding a set of 1.6 rockers which will give me a 0.470 exhaust lift.
From what i worked out the springs have an installed height of 1.700" and a bind of 1.130" giving a 0.570 lift, and taking 0.06 off for safety im good for 0.510. Im I correct in my statement?
Thats not much lift/duration, so a good set of generic stock replacement springs will be all you need. Get the Pioneer 'Z' spring, its about $35.00 a set, you can find them at the local cylinder head repair shop ( I'm talking about a shop where the local fix-it shops send their heads for repair, not the local napa ).
I used the Crane #99846 K-11 tool steel springs in my iron headed LT1 (my Impala). There made for circle track engines that need to have the stock spring diameter. I think max lift is something like 0.610" with an install height of 1.750". Seat pressure is also low enought for hydralic lifters (110# at 1.750"). They cost ~$110 from Jegs or Summit, but they will last forever with lifts under 0.500" and rev limits under 6000RPM.
A good set of springs is: 115Lbs @ seat & 285Lbs. @ .500 lift This is good for stable valve operation w/o needless friction Do not exceed 350Lbs(Hyd Roller) @ full lift (350#'s for Solid)(300#'s Hydraulic)(No limit on a Solid Roller)
thanks guys, i also emailed summit still waiting for a response. I'll see what they say. The edelbrock rpm springs are 39 dollars and 110lbs/290bs respectivley.
heres the email from summit, the response is near the top

You are correct in both your spring selection, and your method of determining the lift the springs are capable of.

Will the performer springs (PN EDL-5802) be ok for my setup? From what i worked out the springs have an installed height of 1.700" and a bind of 1.130" giving a 0.570 lift, and taking 0.06 off for safety im good for 0.510. Im I correct in my statement? Any advice would be great! Thanks.
