Default EAST Coast Timing ASSN.

Here's a cool event that I attended last year, set AA/GSS record on rev limiter. It's happening this weekend, May 25-26. Cost $100 for two days of top speed runs. When I was there I was able to make a pass about every 20-30 minutes. I left after the first day because I was on the rev limiter at the 3/4 mile. No need to abuse my car. Also, you can not use drag slicks.

Speed Trials have now been reintroduced to the East. Land Speed Racing involves Bonneville style cars and motorcycles, racing head long for over a full mile, with speeds exceeding 200 mph. This is not just a long drag race. The rules for Land Speed Racing are quite different and very liberal in comparison to other forms of Motorsports. Competition classes include Streamliners, Lakesters, Roadsters, Competition Coupes, Altereds, Gas Coupes, Modified and Production Pickups, Modified Sports, GT and Production. Bike Classes include Production, Modified, Altered and Streamliners.

Lemme ask some questions here, ok? I was all over the web site and it appears that this event is a flat out ***** to the wall top end speed contest, no??

It appears to be at an abandoned airport, no?

How long is the run, a mile? Two miles?

How long is the shutdown area?

It sounds really awesome, but $100?? $120 at the track?? I know a couple guys in Texas that go to a secret test track in Mexico to do this type of thing for free!

It's a 1 mile run with almost 2 miles of shutdown. $100 to make a run every 30 minutes for two days. It cost $35-$45 for a day at the drag strip and you get 3-4 runs if you don't get past the first round.
