Default C4 - 50mm Offset Wheels on 32mm Offset Car

What are the options for mounting 16-8.5-50mm offset wheels on a 16-8.5-32mm offset car? 1) Longer studs and a 3/4" flat aluminum plate 2) spacers 3) Run the stock wheels

I just got a car and want to drive it for a while to see if there are some hidden (aka expensive) problems before throwing money at something like a wheel/tire.

I would appreciate a good source or a used set.

Thanks a lot.

Additional information

Link to a 1984-1996 Corvette Suspension Chart

All 1984-1996 Corvette wheels have 5 bolts and the bolt circle diameter is 4.75"

To use 1988-1996 wheels on a 1984-1987 Corvette you need 0.75" spacers.

The 11" wide rear zr1 wheels will fit 1984-1987 Corvettes without spacers.
The 1984 and 1985 wheels were made from an aluminum casting that do not shine much when polished.

Enkei produced the 1986 and 1987 wheels for GM and they were made of an aluminum that could be polished to a high luster. These Enkei produced wheels also were slightly larger on the inside, which means you can use the '88 and later 2-piston front brake caliper with a 13" rotor. The Enkei produced wheel can be identified by a small symbol in one of the slotted radial wheel vents which looks like an "m" grafted to an upside down "J".

EZ-accessory co.

Search fleabay for spacer/adaptor. If you have to space out, use concentric hub spacer/adaptors, NOT cheap plates. Its gonna cost you around $75 ea for quality spacers. I run 4 on my car to move the 17 sawblades out since they were different offset than the original 87 sawtooth wheel.

Thanks Lee for taking the time ...

A "concentric hub spacer/adapter" ... what the heck is that? I'll google search that one. $75 ea is a show stopper. That's more than a little pricey.

I looked on fleabay and I couldnt find anything that was 3/4" thick.

I don't want to spend too much time on this but what is wrong with a plate with longer studs?

Thanks agin,
Tim

The hubcentric spacer/adaptor IS just a chunk of billet aluminum plate with new studs...

This is what has to be done to make up for the loss of 18mm of offset.
(3/4")

Look for ez accessory. their stuff is all priced and clearly and properly ID'd on the website. They sell on fleabay alot.

"hubcentric" is just the model name for the plate thats been centered to fit the hub correctly....proper machining. There is a cheaper model thats not going to ride on the hub exactly right...you might(will) have to mess with it to center it. Balance issues....
Everybody that goes from 16" to 17 or bigger has to cope with the offset issue. For those like me, that did not want an aftermarket wheel that could be ordered with the correct offset, I had to use the adaptors 4.75 X 4.75 X 1"+ to fit the sawblade wheel to my 87 chassis and make it look right. I tried it without the spacer/adaptor and it looked too goofy with the wheel set inward almost an inch. .

UPDATE:

you're lucky day ! on sale for $80 a PAIR. 1" thick is the right size to use. I used slightly bigger to clear some big brakes...

The later rims bolt on and work fine on early cars.

The spacer / adapter is only to reposition the wheel to the same position relative to the guards for cosmetic reasons
( 50mm offset sits 3/4" further in on 84 - 87 cars )
so for your " testing " purposes I would not worry about them

I have 16x8 50mm offsets on the front of my 87. No spacers. No problems. Looks a little funny but most people dont notice.

To JackDidley: do you have problems with the tire rubbing the frame at full turn?
