I'm thinking I need to replace My ECM on my '93 coupe. I've gone through the diognostics and just don't see any problems. No codes. Very hard to start. Runs extreamly rough. With the cost of having the thing diognosed at a shop, it would be chaper to try one then to go the shop route. So I called around trying to find one for exchange. There getting hard to find for a '93. One guy I talked to said almost all the request for ECMs for corvettes were for '93s, with a few for '92s. Mine is original. Have all '93s had ECM problems? If so why isn't this info out there like it is for the opti problem? Prices seem to vary greatly on repair/rebuilds. Is there a difference? Who is the best rebuilder? Cardone seems the cheapest. Thats what they sell at the parts houses, and that concerns me. This car has always done a thing where the auto trans would not want to shift out of 1st gear, when i first take it out. The fix is always to turn things off, then restart and everythings OK. It did not do that all the time, only occassionally, so I've put up w/ it. It's done that since I bought it back in 2000 w/ 60k miles when I bought the car. (now 101k) I read this is a symptom of a failing ECM. I've searched the archives. Don't see anything too recent in way of a builder recommendation. So this, or any other helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

 

Do a google search "16159278" for info on the ECM, rebuilding them has been a hit or miss.
