I am changing my thermastat as I write, The housing is to hot and I am taking a break, I went to a parts store and bought a 180 over the counter. I think a 160 would make the car run to rich w/o any mods to the engine.
160 t stat in my vette made only lower fuel economy (about 2-3 MPG) and nothing more!!!!!! :smash:
Eprom must be changed for real benefits from 160t stat.

All a 160 degree stat does is lengthen the amount of time the motor takes to get to operating temp, which is typically between 190 and 195. It is fine for pulling your car up to the line and racing the quarter, But in everyday driving it won't really help you.
Your much better off doing the fan cooling switch mod.

Thats funny....mine with the 180 stat operated about 195-205. Now with the 160 stat, it operates 175-185.
