They do make a kit to tap and install a drain plug. Most of the Corvette parts vendors sell them. Corvette Central for one.
I use a Liquivac to remove the gear oil from the Dana. It also works great for automatic transmissions to remove the fluid so you don't get an oil bath when you drop the pan.
