Willie, have you tried or have any opinions on the short throw shifter ? What about CAGS delete thing..... (I haven't had the forced to 4th shift condition happen yet in several hundred miles thus far, so maybe its a non-issue)
I had my CAGS tuned out when I had my car tuned on the dyno. I think your car already had the CAGS delete module installed or it's been tuned out. My car would go 1-4 right out of the garage when new. I am happy with the shifter. The 08s have the tr6060 tranny which has a shorter shifter than the t56 of the 06 and 07s. Willie
If you don't mind, over the coming weeks, I may be picking at your mind on various issues on this car. Still learning all of the nuances on it. So far, I haven't overcome the limits of the car.... and I don't know how on a few twisties I've taken.
Thanks to everybody ! While I still love my C4.... its a wonder machine in its own right. I do recommend you have a look at the C6's.... they're starting to come down in price. I was originally going to wait for the C7's arrival, hence, the theory the C6's will drop in price, but couldn't.
However, purchases like this do not come without payback to the wife.... hence, yesterday, we got her a new 2012 Honda Accord.
I was going to talk her out of it, but she thinks they are "cute".....what ever. I learned a long time ago, just let her have what she wants, its easier in the long term. (I'm just glad she didn't think a Lexus was cute. )

Hey Todd, I'll be glad to help you all I can. When I bought my 08 new, I was going to leave it stock. Soon thereafter, I ordered a Vararam intake, Fusion exhaust, long tubes with high flow cats, thermostat and tuned the thing. After that, I was trying to decide whether to go heads and cam or supercharger. Then common sense set in. I already took my c4 and turned a street car into a dedicated race car. I decided not go that route again. The C6Z has been great. My wife and I hop in the thing and take a 3 hour drive to Reno or Tahoe often, and it has never skipped a beat. I often take the thing to work. My recommendation is to do some bolt ons or leave it stock and enjoy the car. As we all know, when we pull the valve covers off, thats when things start happening and the reliable street car is not reliable any more. Your first mod should be to get rid of the stock runflats if they are still on and switch to Michelin PS2Zps. In the meantime, be careful until you learn the limits of the car. When you want to go, you can't always go pedal to the floor. Willie
I cannot get over the fact how much smaller the C4 looks.
The C6 is higher and wider but actually a little shorter by the book.
I've parked side-by-side with a C3 on one side and a C5 on the other but never a C6. The C5 is a big car. The C3 is LONG.
I think they both look nice. I'll take the red one!!!
I've just noticed....I think everybody in this thread that has a C6... also has a C4 that can at least run with, if not outright beat their C6.
No stock or low performance C4's with C6's also.
I don't know what that means, other than considering we are the buyers..... maybe GM marketing should come and offer us big discounts on all future performance corvettes.

Thanks for the tips Willie. I think the first two modifications will be the MGW shifter and a CAI plus a dyno tune and deletion of CAGS. Not sure I'll do anything beyond that. I will not do anything that compromises the streetability with it. Besides, as stock, performance is outstanding. Not to mention the dropped valve syndrome I have read about a dozen times. btw, what is your take on that ?
Also, yes still have the original stock rubber.... car only has 13k on it. Hence, I guess there is some life in them and as expensive as these tires are, I might as well wear these down somewhat.

You're probably anxious to road test your wife's new car. JK.
I don't even want to look at it, let alone drive it....it hurts my eyes.
Having said that, she had a Honda CRV mini-suv for a long time.... not a single problem with that thing after well over 100k. Virtually every interior piece and function work as new too. In reality, I think they build a very reliable quality vehicle that is perfect for a woman.

Todd, my original runflats lasted 14k and that's pretty good. Some owners need to replace them at 7 or 8k. Better check with your shiny penny. Mine wore the insides of the rears before anything else. These cars are set up with pretty good negative in the rear. Look carefully. Reading the C6z forums, there have been a number of dropped exhaust valves but those are on mostly modified cars or cars that live on the track. I don't stay up nights worrying about it even though I did void my warranty by tuning the thing. Willie
