I started my 'vette after letting it sit for 3 weeks. The engine light came on and it was idling rough. I drove about 1/2 mile, the light went off and it seemed to run better. I came to a light about 1 mile away and it stalled while waiting. After about 20 minutes it fired right up again. I drove home and it ran great. I turned it off and restarted it without hesitation. I did this a few times just to make sure it wasn't going to happen again. I went out to start it an hour later and nothing.
The plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and the fuel injectors were replaced less than 1000 miles ago. The fuel pump was replaced two years ago. I checked the fuel pressure at the rail just in case, and that was fine. Any ideas?
It cranks but won't start. On the initial crank it almost fires but won't catch. When you let off the key and crank again, it just cranks.
sounds like ICM. module in the distr. no codes? you will need the codes, either learn to do it or have it done, but without the factory manual and codes it is a long, expensive process.
Cliff, you should make that a sticky, or put in tech section. not one mention of aldl or codes in there. it's obvious that new owners will be clueless. also, fsm uses Tech 1, not the jumper wire.
When I jumped A-B, it came up code 15. When I jumped A-G, it came up 4-31, 4-33, 4-35, 4-37.
15 is coolant temp sensor, which will cause over rich condition, behavior about like you describe -if your engine runs rich. coolant sensor is signaling a low temp and ecm adds more fuel.
code 33 is MAP sensor, in the 91.. no 31, 35, 37 codes in 91 ECM, but are in the CCM.
if you were in section 4.0 using a-g, that is ecm. so, I don't know what your 90 codes are.
unplug the map sensor and see the reaction. if it runs ok, the sensor circuit is suspect.
if you cleared the codes, new codes will set, so you have to try it and check codes.

on a whim I decided to see if it would start today. it fired right up. the cooling fans came on immediately. the longer it ran the higher the rpm's got at idle. I turned it off and tried to restart it and all it would do is crank. I have bought a new coolant temperature sensor and will replace the old one. I will keep you posted on what happens next.
Installed a new coolant temp sensor last night. The SES light went out as soon as I hooked up the electrical connection. Car runs fine now, hopefully that was the only issue.
