Gaining 125+ HP on an LT1
,some of the things that break are silly, some are expensive. overall a C4 looks better and "feels" more like a sports car when driving. C5 is huge inside the drivers area, and is ugly. My opinion, nothing more..
There may be another option instead of modifications to a C4, or a C5 Z06. There are a lot of mildly modified C5's and the seller's don't get much of their money back on the modifications. I bought a 99 C5 6 speed that already has LG lontubes, B&B catback, Vararam, Fast manifold, MGW shifter, HP tuners, etc for not much over your C4 prices.
The previous owner said it should be at about 400 hp (crank) and high 12's for quarter mile. Although he had no documentation of the performance, I used an Vericom/Gtech type acelerometer/performance computer and I ran high 12's and it still gets over 30 mpg's on the highway.
I like the car, but I want another LT1/Lt4 car. I sold my '94 last year, and I want to get another one just because I like the style, the way it fits, and the feel of driving it.
You should test drive some C4's, C5's, and C6's and find out what you like or don't like since they are quite different. From there, you can find a way to make any of them into the 12's if they are not already there.
Good Luck.
