Default Just Got Back from Shalin's

What a miracle worker this guy is! I've known he's been around for years, but this is the first time that I've met him.

I drove 3 hours one way to have him tune my '93 LT-1. After burning several different revs of proms, part throttle driveability was incredibly smoothed out. My car has heads, cam and everything else bolt on imagineable. Prior to this, I had a TPIS Stage VI or VII or some crap (and it's their cam, as is most other parts) Not to slam TPIS, but this car is a whole different animal at this time.

It's amazing how much low rpm driveability has smoothed out. It's crisper, more responsive, and pulls out much easier with less clutch concentration. It was waaaaay fat on the low end before. I wouldn't be surprised if I picked up a good solid 20-30hp below 2500 rpm.

Major league thanks to Shalin! If you've ever had the opportunity to meet him, you know what I mean! :yesnod:

yup, Shalin is really good. He's one of the ones that I learned from. He does LT1 cars mainly, I don't think he does L98 stuff. :(

I forget where he lives, but he has a bad 10 second 6-speed!

The word is "had" a 10-second supercharged LT-1. It's a secret who now owns that monster, but, I'll give ya a hint, it is a forum member. I've been sworn to secrecy! Now he's on to another top secret project...

Shalin lives in the southern tip of Delaware. He only does programming on a referral basis, so, if anyone wants to be referred, let me know!

The price? From what I've seen in the market place, he is very, very reasonable. Especially when you consider what the gains are from his expertise. Is he less than any of the supposed chip gurus? Yes. Why? Because he does it right the first time and will not let the car go out unless it is right. He doesn't get any calls for "do-overs" due to missed calibrations. He understands all aspects of engine management, timing and fuel principles to write a book.

After meeting up with Shalin, it is very very clear that there is no way in he11 that anyone can send you a mail order program to fit your combination. There are waaaaaaay to many variables beyond anyone's control to be able to set up a chip for one of these cars. Can they get close? Sure, but if you could drive my car before and after, you'd understand what I mean. My car is dialed in better than it ever has been before.

If anyone is interested in meeting up with him, you could make it a weekend and spend some time in Rehobath or Dewey Beach Delaware or even Ocean City, Maryland. Less than an hour away!

Yes I will second Shalin,

Shalin and Phil(lt401) both helped me tremendously with programming.

Shalin is one of the few that can tune for a superchager with a fatory ECM. say LT1.

I never personally met him but spoke with him on the phone. Very nice guy and willing to help with info.

Dennis
