Default Tire sizes

Hey guys, I've searched A ton of old posts and none have helped me but, I have a set of after market u.s mag rims that have the stock 85 z51 Sizes. They are 16 in 9.5 rims and I'm looking for some more rear tire width(it's been slippery out there lately)
Just wondering will 285s fit or 275s? And what size would it be if I changed them?

When I want to change tire or wheel size for any car I usually go to disscount tire web site and I always find the optional sizes for every car

Have you checked to see what you can actually get in a wider 16' tire?
Even the stock 255's are getting hard to find
Most would recommend you step up to a 17" rim where you can get 275 , 285 and 315 widths to suit a C4

Going from the stock 255/50-16 size to a wider tire will also change the tire diameter. That will throw off the speedo reading somewhat. And there won't be a huge increase in tread width in larger sizes.

BG Goodrich just released a new tire in the stock 16" early C4 sizes.

Wider tires may not necessarily give you added traction when it comes to slippery road conditions. Also, tread width can vary by tire manufacturer even within the same tire size. Even upgrading to the later C4's 275/40-17 tires really won't change the tread width as those tires are very close in width and diameter of the early 255/50016 tire.
