vette running 220 degrees, would changing to 180 degree thermostat help, and could someone tell me how to bypass the hot water going through the throttle body.
First check between the radiator and the condenser. Corvettes are known as bottom feeders and there can be a build up of leaves, bags and all sorts of other things between the two. Clean this area out and your car should run cooler.
You might want to start by cleaning the dirt and debris from between the tubes of the A/C condenser and the radiator. C4's are "bottom breathers" and it's easy to get all sorts of junk in front of them. Look up under the front license plate and you will see!!
When was the last time a cooling system service was done? Sometimes a simple flush and refill of the cooling system helps a bunch. How old is the pressure cap? Cheap to replace with a new one.
As far as bypassing the coolant passage in the TB, all you need is something like a 6" piece of brass tube and a pair of hose clamps. But the idea behind coolant going thru the TB is to help with warmup and letting the ECM go into closed loop quicker.

I had the same problem, clean first , if thats not it,then get a new rad.
Plenty of threads on this. Just replaced the radiator and flushed my system. It was 105 here in ATL this weekend. Car ran 220-226 which is where the fans kick on. No problems. She ran great!
The stock thermostat is 195 degrees. If you are running at 220 degrees (which is normal), that should tell you that the thermostat is not what is controlling the temperature and changing it will make no difference.
Coolant temperature is a function of how hard the engine is working, coolant flow through the radiator, airflow through the radiator, whether the A/C is on (extra heat from the condenser) and the fan(s) -- and when they are programmed to come on.

That temp is normal, and a lower therm will not have any effect.
