Cruise Control Question

I am waiting on my service manuals but wanted to get a little input so I know where to start when the manuals arrive.

I have a 92 automatic. When I set the cruise control it is fine for a while but steadily decreases speed (from 75 mph to 65 mph) while going on a uphill grade then stays there. If I go down hill it will go back up to 75mph and hold until I hit the next incline.

Any suggestions on where I should start (besides waiting and reading the manuals)?

My guess is that you have a vacuum leak in the cruise control system. I'd start with a new vacuum check valve. They're really cheap, less than $5.

thanks for the advice. Hopefully it is something as inexpensive as that.

vacumn hoses to / from cruise control run very near the battery; mine were completely rotten

If hoses and check valves are good - see if the Tank will hold a vacuum.
