Stock Muffler Question...... {help}
I dont know if this is on all L98s, but I was in the shop putting my new front spring in and i was checkin the car over and looked into the tail pipes. The inner pipes are blocked with something and the outter pipes arent. If you look in the other side you see right in, if you look at the inner ones... there is only like an 1/2" hole to have exhaust come out of. The mufflers on the car has appeared to be changed but say GM on them and look stock, My car is a coupe. Isnt this supposed to only be on verts??... Or is it all.... anyone help, thanks :confused:

yes mine came like that, its just another way that GM likes to screw you over and make almost no sense in the process

Uh......yes, you discovered the O.E.M. engineering miracle....dual pipe outlets, but only one of them flows! Sure looks cool, doesn't it? I learned a whole lot about the exhaust by researching Mid-America or Eckler's catalogues. When I replaced the O.E.M. mufflers on my '85, I went with the Dyno-Max replacement set. Both dual outlet pipes flow and they sound sweet!

Some of the coupes got the same treatment from the factory as the verts. Is yours an fx3 or z51 car?
