Default Hood Release

My Dad has an 87 and was adjusting the hood release latch. Somehow it must have disconnected. After he closed the hood only the passenger side locked but now the release inside will not release the hood. Is there a way to do it manually?

You can buy or make one of these:

Alternatively, you can remove the fenderwell liner and work in from there. I've never done it, but it sounds like loads of fun.

Once you've got the hood open, install some emergency hood release cables. Lots of threads on that topic.

Follow this steps :

- Remove small fender
- Get a coat hanger and make a hook
- Introduce your hand thru the space between your fender and wheel well
- Introduce the hook from the wiper area, then catch it with your hand and guide the hook to the latch, till you engage them
- Stand up and pull to the center of the car, that should open your hood
- Now never forget to add emergency cables

ps : i have a bad driver side cable retainer and one day it popped out leaving the cable loose and hood closed (all of this after i had the remove fender experience)
it was a real let down..but i remembered that i had emergency cables !!!!
Wow i was happy,i pulled them and HAPPY HOOD OPEN AGAIN

The hanger has to be hard enough to pull but soft enough for you to acommodate every angle every try, here ya go,this is how i opened mine, the work of your left hand guiding it to the latch is very very important, thats the reason you have to get familiar with the latch's location :

Here you go !

This is what the tool does :

Now you need this :

Default emergency hood release cables.

Maybe I'm crazy, but if you install those emergency cables then can't anybody that knows about these cables for corvettes open your hood when your not around?

They would be more likely to have the tool and be able to open all hoods if they wanted to get inside Covette hoods for some reason.

I have some 1/4" rod stock here and will make a tool to keep in my C4.
