Default Another vette?

I'm thinking on adding another vette to my garage.
I am looking at buying a TPI or LT-1/4.
I want to modify it so I need some imput.
I want to go as cheap as I can on the car so I can do many mods.
The 85 has a less restrictive exhaust(1 cat). but the least power.
Are the convertables worth it or is all that wind annoying?(86 indy).
Is the TPI cheaper to mod than the LT-1/4?
I like the stlyle of both 84-90 & 91-96.
Which TPI is better for power the one with the MAF or the other type?
Do most of the lt-1's have a higher rear end ratio than the tpi's?
Any other thoughts are welcome.
Also in Canada the prices of used vettes seem to be alot cheaper than th US even before exchange so why not get an extra vette.

Do most LT-1's have a higher rear gear than the tpi

I think you should get the newest one you can find, and i believe the LT's are much easier to play with since you have to dig into the motor to get something out of an L98 and have to scrap the TPI unless youre putting on a turbo or something.

Convertibles would only be for driving pleasure, you should really drive one, i know i love my friends 74 vert. The 86 vert might be worth something one day, but that day is not fast approaching and it would only be worth alot if still stock.

Speed Density is great for HIGH power applications, like over 450hp. But its very sensitive to mods, so you would have to do everything in bunches to have the chip remade each time or do it all at once.

LT1's dont have a big difference in gears, all M6's have 3.45 at least (L98 i think had 3.07 in 4+3 and M6  ), autos usually come with 2.59 or 3.07 just as the L98s did. LT's just like MORE gear than L98s because of the power band differences.

I would definitely try to get a 6speed either way.

my car has 3.45's. If you get an LT4 you probably wont need to mod it much, its pretty powerful on its own. If you did, maybe a ram air, cat backs,etc... The LT1 is probably easier to mod, but the first mod for an LT1 is usually the LT4 heads...so if you can find an LT4 for a good price get it. The LT1's can be found alot cheaper than an LT4. It just depends what you want I guess and what your looking for. I bought the LT4 because its kind of a "Sleeper". It looks like a regular LT1.(until I punch it!hehe) The only problem I have with the LT4 is trying to keep it on the road when I hit the throttle hard! hehehe Good Luck!
