Default procharged 85 questions

Hi guys I was woundering how many of you guys procharged a l98 and what mods do you recomend for a 80,000 ish mile engine. I am thinking of engine mods and tossing around the idea the only concern I have with the l98 is the two bolt mains, with prochargeing and some boltons can these engines handle the extra HP and also what kind of numbers are you guys getting in the dyno with the procharger setup. Thanks for reading.

Hi
I have an 85 vette with a vortech blower and intercooler, the standard maf and ecm runs it with a FMU to boost the fuel pressure thru the standard injectors as the boost rises.
The first thing you will find is any blowby past the rings (in a worn engine) will force oil out, up the dipstick and out of the cork seals.
My vette has done around 150,000 miles and has been getting worse over the last 6 years it has been supercharged.
I am currently putting an engine together a 383 stoker with scat steel crank and rods with forged pistons, now saving some cash for some AFR heads and will be able to raise to around 15 psi boost then.

All in all the standard engine handled it all well, mostly due to it being intercooled. trying to run without an intercooler will lead to detonation due to the hi temp etc. That requires water injection, retarding the ignition (and limits power that can be made)

Best get a kit that has all you need and is a proven combination, have seen plenty of people that hardly made any extra power trying to make something work.
