Last summer I had my water pump replaced.. Noticed a good increase in gas milage after the replacement: I was up around 26-28mpg on the highway.. Now, however, I am back down to around 18-22mpg.. does this sound low for an LT1 auto, with 3.07 gears?? What might be the culprit??
When my car was running I got about 19-21 mpg to and from work. You know the traffic on Route 1, NJ already. On strictly highway run averaging between 65-70 mph, I got ~24-26 mpg. This was real calculation of mileage and gallons used after each fill up.
Manual trans will out perform auto. On my 92 LT1 auto, overall average is 20-22. Highway only is generally 24-28 depending how close to 100 I get for how long! City driving can be terrible, particularily if there are a lot of those peski 5.0's around. Have averaged 3-7 in the light to light setting.
