Tired of hearing all these throaty mustangs rev it as they drive by. Just blew my wad on a new clutch, but I really want some good exhaust sound. Whaddya all think of the muffler elims?

"Doc, last night I had a bad dream that I was a muffler. The night before that I had a bad dream that I was a tailpipe."
"So what's the problem?"
"Geez, Doc, I'm exhausted!"

They are cheap and sound good for around town driving. After my 11 hour ride home from the Cruise In, I couldn't hear a thing because of the eliminators. Corsas will be going on my car. :yesnod:

Same here, cept my trip was 7 hours  I love the sound of my elims, but I miss the torque down low so I'm gonna throw some mufflers back on. Also, back pressure hurts gas mileage, so elims should help a little in that aspect, someone correct me if i'm wrong.
Actually i was never a big fan of the dynomax name, but from what ive learned they are actually walker/dynomax, and walker is the company who made the stock L98 mufflers (not sure about the Lt1). As far as sound though, i havent heard a L98 yet that sounds better imo, believe it or not. My friend has an 89vert with borlas and mine is definately louder and better sounding, we both agree on that. Driving with these mufflers makes parking garages and parking lots fun, but its not too loud as to cause a nuissance on a long trip. Actually last night i was leaving a restauant with my friends and when i rolled by this bagged suburban on 20's i made the alarm chirp. I had to roll around the other side of it and rev to about 2500 and send the alarm barking crazily.   Maybe im just a punk kid, but i know im not the only one who enjoys doing that. :smash:
as far as a performance gain from stock, i couldnt tell you, as they were on my car when i bought it. But after driving with no mufflers for a while (no elims, just unbolted my exhaust at the cat) i can definately feel a difference in performance after putting em back on. Plus it gave me a chance to take my y pipe and mufflers off and clean them off and paint them, looks  now. Plus i found out that the mufflers are actually stainless steel after cleaning em off, never knew because they were so dirty before.
*edit: just make sure if youre getting the dynomax that you get the ultraflos, becuase the regular dynomax mufflers dont sound anywhere as good/loud.

I took a similar route. My car is a daily driver, so I like to hear my stereo as well. After about 90 days of the elims, I finally opted for the Corsas and am happy with the compromise. Believe me, the elims sounds SWEET, but for daily drivers and/or long hauls they get annoying real fast. I think everyone that owns a C4 ought to at least experience elims for a while though.... :yesnod:  :smash:

whoa! I get the impression that if I remove my mufflers I'm going to lose torque? Yikes, I certainly don't want that. How much torque and above all why would removing the mufflers cause a loss of torque?

Re: Your opinion on muffler eliminators?
On my 92 I lost 8lb-ft below 3000rpm. As to the sound, I love it. I've had the car on long trips (8+ hours) and have no problems with the sound. There are actually times I think my car is still too quite! :D
Re: Your opinion on muffler eliminators? (Captain_Kaboom)
You ask for my opinion?
When you are sitting in traffic looking at a set of muffler eliminators it probably also means you are looking at a low buck (ie; junker) vette. Not that they have to be junkers but "muffler eliminator" cars around here always seem to have the overall appearance of something that is 3 months away from appearing in a demo derby.
Re: Your opinion on muffler eliminators? (Captain_Kaboom)
Different engines cause the varying responses above. Muffler eliminators sound good on a L98, but they have that whiny import sound on a LT1 at high RPM. Since you have a 93, my suggestion is Corsa's cat back system. I did a lot of research, and listened to LT1 powered C4's with many different exhaust systems. Do your own research, listen to different exhaust setups on C4’s with a LT1, and ask the owners about resonance. Corsa's are pretty quiet for my taste, but they eliminate resonance almost completely. Good luck!

I love mine. My cats are gutted with muffler elims... and It sounds awesome....and have alot of people come talk to me about it. It also greatly improves power over 80mph...
