Default '84 Air Intake Mod - How to help required

For anyone ho has completed this mod, cutting the radiator shroud to match the hood induction opening, how did you mark the fan shroud for cutting lines?

I've read a few articles (posts) by others and have tried the double sided tape, baby powder and oil suggestion to mark the radiator shroud, but it didn't work, after many attempts. I thought about measuring, but I'm not comfortable that it will line up properly. I may try some foam tape with some wet paint, but if it compresses my lines may be off, thoughts?

Does anyone have a tip or suggestion to mark the shroud?

When I did mine, I used a foam block cut just over the size of the hood openning -used some double sided tape to hold it on the hood, but just a lightly as I could.
Double side taped the entire bottom of the foam piece & made sure that the shroud was real clean -then shut the hood slowly.
Took a couple times, but finally got it to stick to the shroud.
Then I marked it and cut it a little smaller get the same size as the actual hood opening.
Next I took another block of foam that was larger, and cut a hole in it to match the opening and seal the gap.
So this foam piece stays on the top of the shroud when I open the hood.
Hope this helps.
Glen
