Well I just got my 85 back on the road and was starting to really get into it but I had to stop at a couple of places once I started it I smelt electrical but thought it was just a wire burning on my exhaust the second time it hessitated and smoked but I had to make it home, once I was home I tried again to make sure it was ok it didn't start and my started cable killed itself and so did my battery terminal. So any ideas on what happend? Im going to check it out tomorrow. Also could that kill my computer?
Thanks in advance
If the car had major shorts or arcing that caused wires to heat up then there is a chance that other systems have been affected. You will have to find the source of the problem first.
For what it's worth my battery is on the drivers side and right after I got the car I had an electrical melt down. Turns out the po ran the battery cable on top of the steering shaft and it wore through it. Ended up frying wires under the dash and it came to this to fix everything, at least I was introduced to my under dash wiring .
Man that sounds rough
Well on my Vette I killed the starter, the solenoid melted. so as I hooked up the new battery the car was in gear and it tried to go though the wall in my garage
So new starter(under warranty) I'm going to connect the battery again(out of gear) and see if that's it. thanks for all the info lucky my experience wasn't the worst
Now that the car is running now I'm getting a check engine code 34 maybe the electrical overload fried something any ideas on what happened? Bad maf? Bad maf relay?
