86 4+3 issues
New Vette owner here. I have an 86 4+3 with 67,000 miles. Notice some minor fluid leaks on garage floor. Turns out I have a coolant leak on the drivers side lower end of the radiator where some type of line is connected. I also have a trans fluid leak around the pan. Can anyone tell me what the coolant line is on the driver side lower corner of the radiator is? Is there a trans filter/gaskit kit available for a manual trans?
Trying to get this car ready for the Woodward Dream Cruise.

Thanks,
Steve

For the OD pan leak, remove the pan (place a gallon-size drain pan under it!) and clean off any old sealing material. Remove the magnet in the bottom of the pan and completely clean the inside of the pan. Clean the upper pan rail on the OD case body.
Use a straightedge on the pan rails to makes sure everything is flat. It's important that the pan rails are flat and clean so it will seal.
Pull the old filter off by pulling straight down, Remove and save the rubber grommet from the old filter. The filter in the OD unit is the same filter used in early 70's Ford FMX auto trans cars like Torino's, some Mustangs, Mercury Cougars, and even a few F-150's. Here's some part numbers:
Carquest: 85926
AC Delco: TF184
FRAM: FT1024
NAPA: ATP14717
Ford: D)AZ-7A0918-A
Any of these filters should run about $7-$8 at parts stores.
Reinstall the rubber grommet (it doesn't come with the filter!) and push the filter onto the tube.
Use a good grade of black RTV sealant like "The Good Stuff" or the MoPar RTV sealant (get it at any Dodge dealer). and place a 1/8" to 3/16" bead around the pan rails and around the holes. Tighten the bolts so that the sealant just oozes out from the pan rails. Don't tighten too much.
Remove the filler plug if you haven't done so and add about 2 quarts of regular DEXIII auto trans fluid. You will need a pump to get the fluid into the OD unit. Fill until fluid starts to come out.
Don't use synthetic ATF or the new DEXVI fluid. DEXIII should be available at most chain parts stores.
