86 EGR valve replacement
thanks,
John

If you are enterprising, take the distributor cover off, then the bolts that hold the plenum, and the accordion tube to the air filter, the water hose under the plenum, and the vacuum lines, front and rear on the plenum, and disconnect the throttle cables.
Slide out the plenum.
Then with a 6 corner 10mm socket and a universal, use a 3/8 ratchet, and change the EGR valve.
Use new gaskets going back on and new antifreeze,
It should take about 3 hours for a novice, and an hour for someone who does this regularly.
and yes you can do it in the garage. or in the driveway.
The biggest headache is the very brittle and fraigile plastic vacuum lines under the plenum. Break any of those, and you are back to 3/64" vacuum hose.
