Been in the automotive business since 1979 with stints as a GM parts manager and an independent parts store owner. Seen a lot in those 30+ years. The constant has always been a SBC runs best on good old AC plugs. That's what is in my '85!!!!
Who says there is no difference.. I have witnessed many plugs.. such as champion, autolite and yes Delco.
Arc out of the porcelain.. no cracks.. brand new complete spark system.. and yes perfect wires. no shorts
I do not have many choices for plugs.. NGK 1041 ( ZFR6A-11) I like NGK's quality..
On the prior '88 I ran AC Delco plugs with cut back electrodes for more efficient charge burn and picked up ~0.8mph at the traps.
That said, I needed to regap them once or twice a year. Of course that Vette saw quite a few passes down the 1/4 mile in a season with 5,800rpm as shift points.
The current '88 has so many other "gotta dos" that I haven't even gotten around to changing plugs....
