Default Spark plug ring

I have an 87 coupe. I thought I read someplace that the sealing ring for the spark plugs is not used on the aluminum heads.
Is this true?

........ Actually ... you can use either type of plug on the aluminum heads ... gasket or taper seal ... I use NGK TR6's which are tapers ... either way don't overtighten them ... spark plugs need to be tightened just enough to keep 'em from falling out .........

Use the taped plugs meant for your heads.

Stock 87 does not have a tapered seat for the plugs. Its meant to have a gasket. You can use a tapered plug put it could damage the top thread .
