I'm not sure how to explain my question. When I first start the car it starts up strong. Cranks right up! I'll drive it for a while shut down and then when I go to start it up it takes longer for it to crank. I would describe it as soft. Almost doesn't want to start. Then I almost break into that cold sweat. Yes! It starts

Just thought I'd throw this out there. Maybe someone has had a similiar situation. Or maybe I'm just

Heat affects the starter and the starter solenoid. How old are those parts on your car? That could be the reason.

This UNANSWERED question has been posed many many times...

One interesting theory I've heard is that the injectors slowly leak fuel while the car is sitting overnight and allow the engine to start right away when it's cold. The amount of fuel that has leaked is minimal when the engine is hot, so it takes longer for it to start. One other aspect of this is that the cars up through '88 have a cold start injector that is disabled if the coolant temperature is over 95°.

A variation on this theory was proposed when people saw longer crank times after replacing injectors. Presumably the new injectors didn't leak...

This is true. Although you didn't say, from your username I'm guessing it's a '92. This is the first production year of the LT1. There are two things that I would check first. The fuel pressure regulator, and the coil/icm. The coil and the Ignition Control Module are mounted on the passenger side head. The icm is especially affected by heat. This would cause warm start issues.

Cliff, I would think that fuel injectors leaking into the cylinders overnight would create a "flooded" condition, and actually hamper cold starts. Just a thought.

First I want to thank all for the replies. Kansas -Yes it is a 92. I had a MSD PRO-BILLET & MSD COIL installed this past Dec. along with Wires. You mentioned the coil & icm I will look into them. This didn't happen before the new coil.
The Starter & Solenoid is original but that sounds plausible also.
