Ok, I've read through most of the tech articles on the c4 bose problems but one like mine has yet to show up. The radio/cd/cassette work fine until a hot day. If its over 95 degrees and the interior gets hot, my head unit displaying goes blank but the back lighting is on. If I happen to be listening to music, it will stay playing regardless of turning the head unit off. Only way to shut it down is to turn the car off and open the door. Once that's done, only way to get the unit to function again is to disconnect the battery cable to reset the system. Any ideas??
Sounds like you need to have the unit rebuild. Probably some capacitors inside are leaking or other internal electronics problems associated with age. Have it serviced or buy an already serviced unit.

internal or external connections?
Hi tahoemedic,
One other thought, is with heat comes expansion and expansion could cause a nomally closed spring-loaded connection to open. If you feel daring, consider removing the radio and unplugging/replugging the connectors on the back. Also, if your adept, gently take the radio apart as there are additional connectors within the radio between the head and body (taking apart is also needed if replacing the back-light bulbs for the display -- delicate but not that difficult, depending on your skill level with that sort of stuff -- I've done it twice on our 94 Bose).
That's why I replaced the entire system in my 90, it was too expensive to fix a 22 year old stereo and speakers! Unless you are looking to keep your vette stock, I would look at aftermarket!
