Default Returning to stock ignition

The previous owner of my '90 converted to an Accel system including their distributor and wires. As my vehicle is a DD, I'm not terribly concerned with performance issues--I want driveability and reliability.

I've noticed that the wires he's installed will need to be replaced soon--I've already had some issues with the plug contact condition--and upon looking at the internals of the distributor, it looks like there are some issues there too.

I'm considering switching back to the stock ignition but wanted to see if anything else might have been involved when he installed the system that isn't immediately apparent (computer changes, timing differences, etc.).

Is there anything else I need to do other than throw the stock distributor back on? Pros/cons? Is there really a meaningful performance gain to justify the cost of a new Accel system? Effects on driveability/reliability/economy?

Did they change the entire distributor or just the cap, rotor, and coil? I know that the Accel coil sits on top of the distributor and on the L-98 you can't put the factory cover on. The internals of the distributor should be the same

Good question and I didn't think about the nuances of this---I'll have to check it tomorrow in the daylight, and I'll get back with you.

You've hit it right on--the factory distributor seems to be intact with the Accel coil mounted above it--and the factory cover was found in one of the storage compartments in the back, along with its screws.

My followup question then is if I wanted to do away with the Accel, would it simply entail removing it and replacing it with a stock cap?
