Default bought a 91 looking for code reader?

Hello, got my first corvette a 91. Im looking to buy a basic code reader or obdi tool? I know the paperclip trick is fine but would like the actual plug in tool. Not sure what im looking for to do my own checking when codes show up on my dash, currently everything is working other than the cruise control.
Looking for an easy to use version to start with.
Thanks! Drew

Default me too

do you have the FSM for your 91, probably so but if not, that will do you more good than the test unit. however, I'd like to find one also, I've got some problems that per the FSM I can really only troubleshoot with a "Test 1" unit. so if you have any luck, I'll be following this thread.

Buy an interface cable and get free scanner software for your laptop. Much cheaper and more versatile than a code reader.

If you want a simple to use OBD1 code reader go to your local parts store, Autozone, Pep Boys, ect. Most also read OBDII and they are about $100.

If you want true real time data, EBay has OTC 2000 and 4000 scanners for cheap but you have to make sure you get the correct cartridge for your car.

If you want real time data and data logging, get the laptop software and cable needed. Tuner Pro is just one of a few out there.
