Just helped install the newest FIRST version top end on an 87 convertible a few months ago and it's a little more complicated than everyone would lead you to believe. There are fuel line mods, stock don't exactly line up with the FIRST fuel rail, vacuum port changes, the stock oil pressure switch and sender needs to be moved, remote fuel pressure regulator and other obstacles we ran into. Plus you'll need to have someone tune it, which means Dyno runs and chip re-burn. That said, it is the best TPI system out there and was fun to install. Not a lot of info but nice pics of the completed install. Wish I wasn't in Cali.

What did you use between the TB and the MAF? I'm using the original accordian, but its old and I want to replace it. I have the 4" to 3" reducer for the TB, but I'm not sure what to use between it and the MAF.

The guy we did this for bought a bunch of adapters but we ended up only using the reducer and the 3" silicone coupling. In between these we used a piece of 3" aluminum. You could call someone like Motion Industries, they provide industrial parts for manufacturing. They supply silicone tubing and could custom make them in just about any size. I got your PM and will call my local Motion contact and ask him. If they do, I'll get the price and PM you. It would look much better if the coupling/reducer was one piece.

I used a rubber plumbing fitting to bridge the gap. I use the reducer from spectre and then this fitting to transition from the tb to the MAF. I agree if it was all one piece it would look better. It was one of the reasons I almost considered going to MAP.

Look at a Mack Truck parts or repair shop for silicone radiator hoses...it ain;t cheap but thats the way to go and they come in the correct diameter. 3" and larger.
Length is then your only question. The orange-ish silicone hose just looks good on the black MAF and ductwork.

IIRC the 3" by 4" long was around $30 or $40...not cheap. I cannot imagine what a 2ft section would cost. Its silicone..so it last forever and heat has no effect.

He already has a monster TPI on his GTA putting down 420hp to the rear wheels, and passed smog too.

I am curious how your build came along leesvet ? Please fill me in as I am still dicking around with my car. I did get an Edelbrock 3860 and gasket matched the holes to the heads. I am having the shop do the same to the heads. I am going to use roller tips and the Comp cam 12-417-8. Hopefully this cam won't be too difficult to tune. I suspect I will have to send the chip off but whatever. I did buy long tube headers and I will also put Flowmaster cats and mufflers on. Reduced pulley set. Ported SLP runners nearly forgot and 24lb Bosch injectors. I found a BBK Edelbrock TB 52mm for $150. Tempted to buy it. Hate to waste my money is the only issue. I picked up a Hypertech coil, a JET fuel pressure regulator and locking clips for the headers all from Summit.
