1989 voltage problems
I use my car about once a week. Recently I noticed the voltage falling and the battery light coming on once in a while. The light seemed to go off when I stepped on the break. Had it checked and battery and alternater were good. Today I pulled it out of the garage shut it off and later had to jump start it and the anti-lock break light was on. Any ideas ?

Replace your ALT. I had the same problem with my 90 Vette. I replaced the battery, and paid $400 for a brand new delco remy starter(try and find one new...). Those two things did not fix my problem. The ALT puts out more voltage at lower RPM, according to shop manual. Explains why ..."when I put on the brake's"...ALSO check the engine to frame grounding straps. Mine was rusted really bad where it connects to the frame under the battery box. I also replaced the lug on the end of the wire that connects to the ALT. Don't trust a squeeze connecter. Solder it on.
