Default Smog Pump Question On 84 Crossfire

For those that have "gutted" the smog pump...

Do you unplug the electronics to the emissions valves and solenoids?

If it's the same as my 85 yes!
I completely removed that valve assembly taped the connectors together, plugged the vaccum line, and put the connectors where they wouldn't be seen.
Good luck

Why not just take the pump off and install a 85.5" belt and be done with it??

Forgot about that! (was thinking it would need the pulley kit for some reason)

Thanks.

If you want things to look stock then just leave everything plugged in. It won't hurt anything. They've been that way all these years without problems...

Now if you're going to rip everything out, that's another story. Of course you won't be able to sell the car to someone in a smog check state.

Personally I can't see the point of gutting the smog pump. It only takes a few horsepower to run. You won't be able to tell the difference and it helps the rear cat work.

If you ever delete the AC compressor then you will need the Dorman 34157 pulley kit which is designed for 88-92 F bodies.

just remove the pump and use a smaller belt. I would measure with string to be certain of the lenght. I had no problen finding correct lenght.

Goodyear 4060855 is the belt, I may have 2 of them if you need them. I did the smog delete first and later the 34157 ac delete.

Picked up the smaller belt and got the AC delete pulley (have to save up for next year to convert to 134a). All set to start the weekend project tomorrow.

Not going to worry about selling the 84. I honestly plan on keeping it for a long time.
